On Thursday 13/06/19, I used the laptop in the morning and it worked perfectly fine. Later in the afternoon, I opened it up and it opened to the BIOS. It was turned off by holding the power button, but since then trying to turn it on has shown a blank screen with no light – not just black light shown when a normal screen is showing a black image. The power light turns on when the power button is pressed, and the charging light turns on when the laptop is charging by its charging cable as normal. There is also the normal fan spin when turned on. On the advice of ASUS when I contacted them, I held the power button for 35 seconds while the laptop was unplugged. I then plugged the laptop back in, pressed the power button and repeatedly tapped F2 for over 2 minutes. The laptop's power light lit up and the fan spun but there was nothing shown on the screen.
As directed by ASUS, I used a USB stick in a FAT32 format I downloaded the latest BIOS version linked by them and renamed it to X510UQ.BIN. That also did not work. I took it to an IT company and they said they thought there was a motherboard fault.
Ideally, I would like to keep the same harddrive if possible.

The damage to be repaired ie a crazed screen was correctly described so the cost of the part and time element would have been available before quoting. Was greeted by a very pleasant and extremely helpful member of staff. He explained what they would do, what I would need to do and if I wanted to go ahead with the repair I could pay in person as he was aware of my computer situation.
On collection I was greeted by Norbert the very pleasant staff member again who handed me the headphones in a protective case. I was absolutely overjoyed. I thought they were beyond being fixed. How wrong could I be. They're definitely as good as new. -

I broke my Bose headphones trying to fit new ear cushions which proved impossible for me to fit. I found Electronic Partners … read more details online and contacted them. They paid for the postage of my headphones to them, assessed the damage and gave me a very reasonable quote to repair them. They fixed the damage and also fitted the ear cushions for me, then returned the headphones in perfect working order. They even offered me a one year warranty for their work which I took out for £10.
All in all a very professional and helpful service and gave me my much loved headphones back with new ear cushions and working perfectly. So much cheaper than buying a new pair. I would not hesitate to use them again in the future.
